Hey there—we’re Candace and Nick, the duo behind Snarky Taro, where sarcasm meets sustainability with a splash of aloha.
Our brand was born from a blend of personal loss, creative roots, and our love for Hawai‘i, Colorado, and North Carolina. Candace grew up in a small North Carolina town where her family ran a local t-shirt printing business. After a devastating house fire and her late mother’s battle with breast cancer, that family dream was lost—until now. Snarky Taro is Candace’s way of carrying that legacy forward with pride, humor, and heart.
Nick, raised in the Colorado foothills, spent his early years snowboarding, hiking, and soaking up nature. Later, through family ties to Kona Village on the Big Island, he fell in love with Hawaiian culture, local food (yes, musubi!), and the laid-back vibe that still inspires our designs today.
Together, we started this brand to create something that felt real—raw, ridiculous, and a little rebellious. Our designs are loud, witty, sometimes salty, and always sustainably made. We believe in protecting the planet, so we operate through a print-on-demand model with a deep respect for Mālama ʻĀina—caring for the land that gives us so much.
